Race fans on the east coast, this weekend is your big chance to take in the Canadian Superbike series, as it visits Shubenacadie.
Once again, Jordan Szoke is the man to beat in the Pro Superbike class, despite his recent setback at the Grand Bend Motorplex round. Szoke rebounded quickly to take a convincing win at St-Eustache, and with his long, impressive record of wins at Shubenacadie’s challenging track, the other racers will have a hard time taking a win from him this weekend.
Szoke currently leads the standings, with 156 points; Bodhi Edie is second, with 123 points. Edie’s the first guy to beat Szoke in years, with that win at Grand Bend, but Shubie is a whole new game. With a double-header, though, the westerner has twice as many chances to take another win this weekend.
In Pro Sport Bike, things are a little more tricky to predict; Tomas Casas is putting together a pretty good campaign (leading with 147 points), but so are Frank Trombino and Mitch Card. You can always expect the local hotshots to put up a good fight in the Sport Bike classes at Shubenacadie as well, particularly Ron Munroe.
No matter what class you look at, even with the amateur events, this weekend is a vital chance to make up lost ground in the standings, as there’s only the Mosport Canadian Tire Motorsport Park double-header left once the Shubenacadie races are over.
