Snow City racers return to CSBK this summer

Snow City Cycle Marine’s four-man team will be returning to Canadian Superbike action this summer.

In Pro Superbike, Derrick Whyte will return for his second year, piloting the latest generation Kawasaki ZX-10R. Whyte finished eighth overall in the standings last year; along with some regional racing, Whyte plans to attend all the CSBK races this summer, and is hoping to move up the standings a bit.

Cameron Walker returns to CSBK this summer as well. Some race fans might remember Walker’s campaigns in 2014 and 2015, when he ran in the Honda CBR250 spec series. In 2017, Walker will be in the Amateur Sport Bike class, aboard a 2009 Kawasaki ZX-6.

Jared Walker will race for Snow City in the Kawasaki Ninja 300 spec series, where he finished third overall last year. He managed to win 2016’s 300 Production and Lightweight Production classes in Shannonville’s RACE Series, and also won four races in the CSBK series, so he’s a potential champ in that class this summer.

Finally, Adolfo Silva will also be returning to the Kawasaki Ninja 300 series as part of Snow City’s team. Silva finished fourth in that series last year. He’s an older rider in a series most often seen as a training ground for youngsters, but that’s OK; one of the problems with the old CBR250 series was its age restriction, which kept older, interested riders out. Now, with that barrier removed, older riders are able to race in the CSBK series without having to enter the Sport Bike or Superbike classes.

Snow City Cycle Marine is pleased to announce their rider team that will compete in the CSBK Mopar National Superbike Championship for 2017. Snow City will field four (4) riders competing in Pro Superbike, Amateur Sport Bike and the Ninja 300 class.

Derrick Whyte will return to compete for his second year in the Pro Superbike class. Derrick plans to do all the 2017 CSBK rounds and a couple of the RACE Series regional weekends aboard his Snow City 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R.

“In 2016, I finished 8th overall in the CSBK Pro Superbike competition, which is right around where I expected to be. I hope to finish 2017 a couple of positions better” explained Derrick.

When asked about details on his new Snow City Kawasaki, Derrick added, “I’m excited to try the new generation ZX-10R. All the updates were things that I felt the previous generation of bike was lacking. These updates should help with my personal goals that I have set for 2017.”

Cameron Walker is familiar with the tracks selected for the CSBK 2017 season as the young university student finished well in the Honda sponsored CSBK CBR250 Cup class in 2014 and 2015. For 2017, Cameron will return to compete in the Amateur Sport Bike class at select CSBK rounds on a variety of machinery including a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6.

In 2016 Cameron finished 5th overall in the Amateur 600 RACE Series at Shannonville. “I was very pleased with my performance and improvement throughout the 2016 season.” shared Cameron.

Looking forward to the 2017 CSBK season, Cameron added “I am most excited about the CSBK weekend at Shannonville since the level of competition will be high and it is my home track.”

Snow City’s third competition rider, Jared Walker, will be familiar to people who followed the results of the 2016 CSBK inaugural Ninja 300 series. Jared finished 3rd overall in the 2016 Series but showed well during the season with four (4) race wins including the final two races at the August round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).

“I enjoyed competing in the CSBK Ninja 300 series in 2016. With the cooperation of Canadian Kawasaki Motors and Snow City I will return to compete and hopefully finish well in the championship standings in 2017.” offered Jared.

Jared claimed the championship titles at the RACE Series at Shannonville for the 300 Production and Lightweight Production classes in 2016 on his Kawasaki Ninja 300 motorcycle.

“As a family race team we rely on our supporters such as Snow City, Riders Choice, Tnemec Company and Bickle Racing to help us with motorcycles, equipment and knowledge. Without them, competing would be very difficult.” concluded Jared.

Also returning to compete in the CSBK Ninja 300 series will be Adolfo Silva. Adolfo competed at all of the 2016 CSBK rounds in the Ninja 300 series and finished the year in 4th place overall.

Adolfo discovered the joy of motorcycle racing later in life. The Kawasaki Ninja 300 motorcycle and the CSBK Ninja 300 series are the perfect combination for him. “Last year was a really steep learning curve with it being my first race season, but I grew in confidence as the season progressed and was pleased with my progress” explained Adolfo.
