Austin Vince plans “Mini-Mondo” tours

Austin Vince, the filmmaker and traveler behind the film Mondo Enduro and its sequels, is now offering the chance to tag along on your own Mini-Mondo adventure.

In case you haven’t seen Vince’s films (the best-known are Mondo Enduro, Terra Circa, and Mondo Sahara), it’s arguable they’re a huge part of the modern boom in adventure motorcycling, particularly as they’re probably part of the inspiration for the “Long Way” TV specials from Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor. We’ve reviewed them, here and here.

For years, Vince has been promoting the thrills of DIY adventure riding, but he also knows not everyone has time to take a year off and ride around the world. So, he’s put together this week-long jaunt through Spain, giving riders a taste of what it was like to be on a longer expedition. If you’re interested, more details are here. Cost is £849.

If you want to fly over and take part, Vince says “I can probably get a 250 trail bike for anyone that comes over but that would be around £500 for the week.” Or, you could fly your bike over by Air Canada. So it wouldn’t be a super-cheap holiday, but doesn’t it look more fun than a cruise ship?
