EICMA: Moto Guzzi introduces V7 III platform

The V7 III Special has an old-school air-cooled transverse V-twin, same as Guzzi V7s have had for decades.

Moto Guzzi has once again updated the V7 lineup, with updated models of the Special, the Stone, and the Racer, as well as a limited edition Anniversario model.

The new V7 III platform sees the transverse V-twin’s max power rise 10 per cent — 52 hp at 6,200 rpm, and 59.7 Nm of torque at 4,900 rpm. The engine itself still uses pushrods and has two valves per cylinder. There’s a new exhaust system, new Marelli EFI unit, the gearbox sees changes to first and sixth gear, and the electronics package includes two-level traction control and dual-channel ABS.

The chassis also sees changes. Steering geometry has changed (shorter wheelbase, more rake and trail), seat height has been lowered to 770 mm, and there are new preload-adjustable shocks from Kayaba. The whole lineup gets locking gas caps, new gauges, and revised sidepanels as well.

Individually, each model receives its own minor tweaks, mostly aesthetic — new seats, upgraded shiny bits, etc. Full details and specs haven’t made it our way yet, and are not available on the Guzzi website at this point.

The new Anniversario model will only see 750 bikes made — it will not be a fixture in the Guzzi lineup going forward.
