A better sport tourer: MV Agusta Turismo Veloce RC debuts

Although the company is battling out financial woes in court, MV Agusta decided to add another high-end machine to the lineup — the new Turismo Veloce RC.

Of course, the standard Turismo Veloce sport tourer has been in the lineup for months. This upgraded version has seen quite a few revisions, starting with a refined powerplant It’s still an 800 cc three-cylinder engine, but Euro4 sound standards mean the internals have been redesigned to keep mechanical noise down. The gearbox has been tweaked a bit as well, and a new sprocket also changes up the gearing.

The electronics package has been updated to include electronically-assisted up-and-down quickshifting, nine-level traction control (including an “off” setting), and revised engine modes, including an 80-hp rain mode.

The Turismo Veloce RC gets semi-active Skyhook suspension from Sachs, modified to suit the bike’s specific needs.

New front engine mounts are said to offer more stiffness to the chassis, and MV Agusta also included new forged aluminum wheels.

Along with the performance upgrades, MV Agusta’s new machine also gets a host of  changes to the bodywork: a carbon-fibre mudguard, racing livery, a reshaped seat, and more.

Only 250 of these machines will be made, so if you want one, get on the horn with your dealer now. But with a production run that limited, don’t be shocked if none make it to Canada.
