While flat track racing is making a big comeback in North America for several good reasons, speedway is still sort of a forgotten sport — which is a pity, as the video above proves.
There are some speedway series still running on this side of the Atlantic, but it doesn’t have the appeal it does over in Europe. It’s probably hindered by the fact you don’t run it on a stock-ish dirt bike (or modified four-stroke street twin). Alcohol-fueled bikes that are made to only turn in one direction aren’t really usable anywhere else but the track, and you don’t see the Big Four fighting over that market — this is one case where win Sunday, sell Monday sure doesn’t apply.
But whether or not it’s popular, it’s fun to watch, and these particular clips even bear the FIM stamp of approval, and that’s good enough for us … Brap on!
