Lou DeVuono has high hopes for this year’s Heroes Highway Ride.
DeVuono is the vice president of the Perfect Pigs, the club that organizes the June 2 event that sees thousands of riders travel down the Highway of Heroes outside CFB Trenton. The Trentonian says he’s hoping for as many as 7,000 riders this year.
There’s no charge to attend the event, but organizers are raising funds for the Wounded Warriors campaign and the Tony Stacey Centre for Veteran’s Care in Scarborough. Any contribution is voluntary; there will be a breakfast at CFB Trenton for the riders, and $5 contributions will be split between the charities.
The rally’s grand marshall is Darlene Cushman, whose son, Darryl, was killed five years ago in Afghanistan.
DeVuono is even hoping for hundreds of riders from the U.S. to attend this year; members of the Jewish Motorcycle Alliance and Mission 25, a Christian club, are expected.
