Want more power from your Harley-Davidson Sportster? S&S has a new big bore kit that should do the trick, whether you’ve got an 883 cc or 1200 cc engine.
There are two different sized kits available; one takes the 883 cc engine to 1200 cc. The other takes the 1200 cc engine to 1250 cc. Both kits are available in either black or silver paint. They are bolt-on kits, so buyers don’t need any machining done. The kits include cylinders, pistons, gaskets, oil seals, new cams, and new tappets, while re-using the stock heads, pushrods, and EFI/carburetors.
Pricing is $1,499 US for the 883 kit, and $1,549 for the 1200 kit. Given the history of interchangeability between the 883 and 1200 engines over the past three decades, it’s unclear why the 1200 kit won’t also fit on the smaller motor — their website’s description does not explain.
S&S claims their kit can bring a Sportster as high as 85 hp, when combined with their intake and exhaust systems.
