Italian roadracing star Claudio Corti to challenge CSBK finale

Talk about a surprise entry. There’s a new entry in this weekend’s Canadian Superbike double-header that might shake things up, a lot.

Claudio Corti, the man who’s tearing up MotoAmerica’s Superstock series (currently second overall) is entering Pro Superbike on his Aprilia RSV4. You can keep an eye on his progress learning the track with CSBK’s live timing here.

How much impact will it have on the final? Hard to say, but Corti’s had a lot of experience (2005 European SuperStock 600 champion, as well as Moto2, MotoGP, and World Superbike races). It’s not the first time CSBK has seen this sort of thing, with a star coming in from out-of-country to shake things up. Back in 2011, Michael Barnes came up from the AMA to take on Steve Crevier’s dominance in the XR1200 series, and actually took a win away from him. Maybe Corti can do the same?
