Brett’s back!

Get on board with Brett McCormick's Movember efforts!

Brett McCormick, perhaps the fastest Canadian on two wheels, has announced his racing plans for 2016. Sadly, they don’t involve CSBK or any other form of roadracing.

Instead, McCormick, who retired from roadracing after his World Superbike season in 2012, will be racing motocross. He’s going to race the Saskatchewan provincial series, and enter the national round in Regina. If that goes well, he says he might enter at least one other national round in the east, as he’s anxious to see how he matches up against national-level opponents.

On his Facebook page, McCormick said “My plan for this summer is to see how my speed is at the national level, and if I’m as fast as I hope to be then maybe something can come of it one day! That being said, I have no idea how I will match up with the best riders in the country. I know I’m a top rider in Saskatchewan, but I also know that being a fast regional racer is a long ways away from being fast on the national circuit.

Considering the fact McCormick was nearly unbeaten in his last year in the Canadian Superbike series, it will be interesting to see his results in the dirt. He also still holds CSBK lap records as well … It’s too bad we won’t see a match-up between him and Jordan Szoke again this summer, as McCormick would be a prime candidate to challenge Szoke’s undefeated streak.

Other than racing MX, McCormick has been studying engineering and even playing university hockey since he left roadracing. He talks about those goals, and others, in this Facebook post here.

  1. Man .. I still remember that wet race where he got into the grass / turf .. freaking Checa. How amazing would it be to have a Canadian on the world scene to watch and root for.

I guess the title of the article could be played into a pun .. of sorts .. in bad taste 🙂
