Two-time Canadian Superbike champion Michael Taylor is returning to national racing action this summer, riding a Triumph.
Taylor, who won the 1994 and 1996 CSBK Pro Superbike titles aboard a Kawasaki, will be riding a Triumph 675R Daytona triple this summer. He’s entering both the Pro Sport Bike series (where he could be a serious threat for the title), and the Pro Superbike series. While 600-class sportbikes haven’t won anything in the Pro Superbike series in recent years, they have certainly challenged for points.
Last year, a Triumph won the Pro Sport Bike class (piloted by Kenny Riedmann).
Taylor last raced in CSBK in the 2013 Harley-Davidson XR1200 spec series. Before that, he raced for BMW, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha.
Given the downhill team’s performance, it might not be a bad idea.
What, Jodie Christie not available?
Michael Taylor is a fine gentleman but its been 20 years (yes, 20 years) since he won anything. What is Triumph thinking?
What’s next, Steve Podborski re-signing with the Canadian Downhill Ski Team?
