Video: AJP PR7 adventure bike looks like a fun “work in progress”

Although they are never seen on Canadian streets, AJP is still plugging away in Europe, producing interesting dual sport motorcycles. Here’s a peek at one of their latest.

The AJP PR7 appears to be the 600 cc single-cylinder machine AJP has been talking about for a while, with periodic updates at EICMA. The four-valve liquid-cooled DOHC motor (counter-balanced for smoothness) is manufactured by another niche Euro outfit, SWM (Speedy Working Motorcycles — you couldn’t make that name up). It’s just the latest example of a long tradition of small European manufacturers working together (see also: Gas Gas/Ossa, et. al.). The motor has a six-speed transmission and EFI.

Suspension, the real heart of a truly capable off-road bike, comes from a 48 mm front fork with 300 mm of travel. The rear shock (fully adjustable, just like the forks) has 280 mm of travel. Fuel capacity is 17 litres, braking comes from a dual-piston caliper/300 mm disc setup in front, and single-piston caloper/280 mm disc setup in back.

Wet weight is set at 165 kg for now, but the prototype is still undergoing testing.

As the video shows, the bike is still undergoing testing, but they hope to have the machine on the US market this fall. As for Canadian plans, we know of none, yet.

  1. I think AJP in North America are for off road use only and having only one dealer in Canada as far as I know does not help in seeing them all over . The PR7 is expected to reach the US so possibly Canada , must only hope that they get it certified for road use in North America.
