Harley-Davidson’s Canadian sales grow

Harley-Davidson’s Canadian sales grew in last year’s fourth quarter, despite the slide in the Canadian dollar.

According to Harley-Davidson, their Canadian sales were up 12.3 per cent in 2015’s Q4, from the 2014 numbers. That’s significant for two reasons.

First: Last summer, Harley-Davidson ended their long-time relationship with Deeley, their Canadian distributor for decades. Although Q4 isn’t the busiest time of year for Harley-Davidson sales in Canada, at least the new direct distributorship model from the American parent company seems to be working out so far.

Second: In case you haven’t noticed, the US dollar is killing the Canadian dollar right now. That means products built in the US are going to rise in price in Canada. Although Harley-Davidson tries to utilize their global network to even out price fluctuations, it would have been logical to expect a drop in sales due to a rise in prices, considering the great disparity between the two currencies. So far, it seems Harley-Davidson has managed to avoid that scenario.
