Report: Trans-Atlantic Match Races may return

According to a report on Roadracing World, the US-vs.-UK Trans-Atlantic Match Races might be making a comeback.

In his article, David Swarts says the organizers of British Superbike and the MotoAmerica series are talking about once again pitting North American riders against the best Old Blighty has to offer. Readers ought to remember this sort of thing happened on and off in the past, from the 1970s through the 1990s, with some of the best roadracers from the US and England appearing, and even some Canadian riders.

For more information on the possible race series, check out Roadracing World. It’s a great idea, and it would be fantastic to see US and possibly Canadian racers getting more exposure on the world stage.

  1. Given how heavily slanted MotoGP racing is towards the Europeans it’d be nice to have a new forum to showcase local talent on the world stage. I mean, has there ever been a Canadian in 500s? I think Duhamel might have ridden wildcard in a MotoGP race at Indy but that’s the extent of my memory on the subject.
