Harley-Davidson looking to add more Canadian dealers

The times, they are a changin’, for Harley-Davidson in Canada.

As we told you in the spring, the Motor Company has moved towards direct distribution in Canada, ending their decades-long relationship with Deeley. Given the long-running nature of Deeley’s relationships with their dealer network, the move raised questions as to Harley-Davidson’s future plans. It seems we now see at least a hint — they’re planning to expand in Canada.

Harley-Davidson is running advertisements in Canadian national newspapers, looking for new dealers. According to the ad, they’re looking for dealers in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, and “open to expressions of interest for further areas of Canada.”

Don’t jump to conclusions. It doesn’t say they’re getting rid of any members of their previous dealer network. However, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a bit of turnover, as that typically happens anytime a distributor changes. And from what the ad hints, it seems we’ll soon be seeing some new faces at least, even if the old dealers don’t go anywhere.
