Ducati teases “low speed excitement”

So, this happened: Ducati has unveiled a new promo video clip that shows a lot of random images that are only connected by visual cues related to the letter X, and then left us hanging with the line that we can expect “low speed excitement.”

Obviously, the Italian manufacturer is trying to whet our appetite for a machine appearing at the EICMA show. But what? Will it be a bagger, or cruiser, as many are suggesting? Maybe, but it hardly seems like smart marketing to sell a luxury motorcycle on the concept of “low speed.”

Maybe it’s a scooter? Reports say Ducati is planning to enter two new motorcycle markets this year, and a scooter would certainly be a hot seller in the Euro market. However, even scooters aren’t sold on the tagline of “low speed excitement.”

What else could it be? There is one interesting new market that only one other manufacturer is involved in right now: The street-legal mini bike. AKA, the Honda Grom. The Grom has been a smash success for Big Red, and for now, it’s unchallenged on the market. Could Ducati be planning their own mini bike? Or are they planning something more traditional? With EICMA just around the corner, you know the answer isn’t far off.
