Dealership auction offers up trove of vintage Hondas, other marques

An Internet auction is offering up a collection of vintage motorcycles and gear at low prices (at this point, at least) that should appeal to motorcycle collectors of almost any stripe.

On September 6, the contents of the Greenfield Honda shop of Greenfield, Iowa, are going up for sale, through both a live auction and an Internet auction through Proxibid. Greenfield Honda has been closed for some time, and had a 30-year business history. In those decades, they amassed some interesting bikes, including vintage British machines and some rare Hondas that are now up for sale.

From the motorcycle side, highlights include a 1979 Honda CBX with only 295 miles on the odometer. It’s all-original, and in running condition. If you’re the handy type, you can put together this other 1979 model and save some cash — and it only has 43 miles!

There’s also a 125 cc Honda Benly, a 1985 Gold Wing with four miles on the odometer (supposedly run for 3,000 miles as a demo bike), and a 1969 BSA Rocket 3. There’s a super-clean 1974 Honda XL250, a 1979 Indian moped and lots, lots more. If you want a super-clean UJM with low miles, or even something a bit older, there’s lots to choose from — CBs, CLs, CXs, etc., etc. None of those bikes are rare models, but it is rare to find them with low mileage, and most of these machines are in pretty good shape.

There is also quite a bit of vintage gear for sale at the auction, including a vintage Hondaline suit, old-school Bell helmets, rare posters, jackets and more. Some of it’s going for very reasonable prices right now, but there are still a few days left in the auction.

You can see the entire collection that’s up for auction here.

  1. Hey guys… best source of Import information is available on :http://www.riv.ca/ImportingAVehicle.aspx

This is the transport Canada’s official site and should be up to date.

In my experience in a nutshell… you must check their listings of what is and is not importable. Generally anything from the Japanese and HD from the USA is on the list. If it is not on the list you can contact them directly and ask. I have found them to be quite helpful with my questions.

The US title will have to be surrendered and a CDN import document attained. This can be a bit complex as they will want the paperwork in advance and the bike to be inspected at a designated crossing by both the US and CDN officials.

Tax will be paid on the unit.

Again, look up the RIV site and that should give you all the info.

    Good luck!
