Brit mags report new Ducati Diavel en route

A couple British motorcycle magazines are reporting there’s a new Diavel en route, with photos on their websites.

Both MCN and Visordown have photos of a new Ducati Diavel, which you can see in the composite image above. We’ve added photos of the existing Diavel so you can compare them side by side, to spot the differences.

The big changes: The exhaust has been rejigged, leaving the engine more visible. The fuel tank, radiator, headlight and belly pan have all been streamlined, and the swingarm has also been re-designed. Also — check out that belt drive, replacing the chain.

MCN and Visordown both speculate the new Diavel will have Desmodromic Variable Timing, same as the Diavel. That variable valve timing technology should allow the motor to make strong power throughout the rev range, thanks to independent control of intake and exhaust cams.

The photos of the new Diavel come on the heels of hints from Ducati management that they have lineup additions coming aimed at the US market. Maybe this modified muscle bike is the start of that trend?
