Cruisin’ USA: The Full Ride

With Canada Day just past, our American friends to the south have their own national holiday just around the corner. Here’s a couple videos for them to enjoy, thanks to the dudes from The Full Ride.

The US has awesome riding, from the twisties of the Green Mountains to the switchbacks of the Rockies, from the alien landscapes of the Southwest to the wastelands of Alaska. If you want to cross a country with a wide variety of fantastic motorcycling opportunity, it’s hard to beat the US.

The guys behind The Full Ride project – three average dudes from New Jersey with hipster beards, tattoos and cameras – are in the middle of doing just that: Criss-crossing the US in an epic four-month journey on old beater bikes. You can read more about their journey here; they’ll have the trip of a lifetime as long as they can keep it together.

Officially, their plan is to “Ride our motorcycles on a single 25,000-mile long course that zigzags throughout North America. We’ll travel through 3 countries, swim in 4 oceans, cross into 49 States, visit 115 National & State Parks, Forests, and Monuments, sleep at at least 50 campgrounds, 10 seedy motels, the homes of more than a dozen friends and family members (and probably a few kind strangers that we meet along the way), drink 1,968 cups of coffee, have 492 pee breaks, change 96 quarts of oil, 40 spark plugs, 32 oil filters, 16 tires, 4 pairs of underwear, and are sure to have 1 hell of a time.

These riders are documenting their journey across their country on Vimeo. Check out a couple of their updates below. Americans might not have public healthcare, but they do have a great country to ride in. To our US readers, enjoy your Independence Day weekend.
