Cal Crutchlow Interview Delivers More Zingers

Love him or hate him, there is no middle ground when it comes to CWM LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow.  Prone to scowling into cameras whilst telling it like it is, the 2009 World Supersport champion has endeared and irritated in equal measure.  This week he sat down with MotoGP.com for an exclusive interview.

“I hate the riders that lie and say things that aren’t true.” he said when asked about his media relations style.  To his great credit, Crutchlow has not sunken to the level of some MotoGP stars in the past who have laid blame on equipment, teams or other competitors, but rather focused his sometimes grating commentary on actual mistakes and failures.  Often his own.

“I always respect my sponsors and team and my manufacturer, but if I think something is wrong,  I will say it. Sometimes it gets you into trouble, sometimes it doesn’t, but this is the way I am. I don’t want to change because I think I’m honest.”

It is a good read and offers some insight into a man with a complicated relationship with media and his sport in general.  You can find the complete interview here.
