Scottish-Canadian roadracer Ben Young has earned his first podium in the new MotoAmerica series.

Yooung’s been soldiering away in overseas series for a while now, with highs and lows. This year, his Fogi Racing team is racing in the US under the Roadrace Factory umbrella; Young’s aboard a Yamaha R6 this season in the Supersport class.

Young managed a third-place finish in a cold, wet race at Wisconsin’s Road America track last Saturday.

“I couldn’t feel my right hand for the last five laps – it was that cold!” Young said after the race. He didn’t have quite as much success on Sunday, finishing ninth. He’s still sitting in sixth place in the Supersport championship standings, though.

The Road America round of the MotoAmerica series will air on CBS Sports next Sunday (June 7), with reruns later in the day, and on Monday.

  1. So what, he lives in Canada now. Labels are exactly that – so lets try to move away from them. Next thing we’ll have is Catholic-Canadians, Sikh-Canadians, Chinese-Canadians. What’s the commonality between all of these? They’re all CANADIANS. I don’t give a flyin’ where someone is from.

  2. Any chance of doing away with hyphenated Canadians? Scot-Canadian, French-Canadian, Polish-Canadian, Ukrainian-Canadian serve no purpose other than to draw distinctions and separation between us.

    • Thing is, he’s born and half-raised in Scotland, and actually lived in the UK to race in the BSB series last year, so I figure the label fits … not like calling me a Ukrainian-Canadian, as I’ve lived here my whole life.
