ICON debuts Raiden lineup

ICON has finally introduced its Raiden line of adventure riding gear.

ICON’s had Raiden-branded stuff in the past, but this is the start of the gear as a separate line, similar to their ICON 1000 collection. For now, the Raiden lineup consists of a jacket (which also comes in a women’s version), two different pants, a riding jersey, their Variant helmet, a couple different gloves and off-road boots. You can see the entire lineup here.

Highlights for the new gear include D30 protection, waterproofing, and design that allegedly rebukes the sad grey status quo that dominates the current ADV scene – their words, more or less.

To test their gear, and then promote it, ICON did a ride up the Alcan Highway and wrote it up on their blog  – you can read that here. They also signed up a couple former Baja 1000 champs and stunt rider Ernie Vigil to ride the Mexican 1000 rally wearing the gear. And, they made them do it on Triumph Tiger 800 XCs – a fun bike, but not the kind of mount usually seen at the rally.

They then filmed a documentary that sounds and looks an awful lot like the Dana Brown-directed Dust To Glory – not that that’s a bad thing! You can watch the documentary below.
