Pirelli announces commitment to small sport bikes

Take heart, owners of small-capacity sportbikes: Your litrebike buddies might laugh at you, you might get excluded from group rides, but Pirelli still loves you.

This week, Pirelli announced that along with tires in the 3.00-17 (3.25-17) and 4.00-17 sizes (for the KTM 390 RC, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Honda CBR300 and the Yamaha R3), they also have new tires for rear wheels in the 3.50 size (for the older Ninja 250 and CBR250). The Diablo Supercorsa V2 140/70R17 66W TL DOT rear is new for 2015 in a special SC2 compound, and ought to be an upgrade for guys and gals who want to go fast on a quarter-litre machine – relatively speaking, of course.

Their press release summed it up this way: “Our commitment to Roadracing worldwide is the same for a small bike racer or someone riding a fully developed 1000cc Superbike.” So there you have it. Pirelli respects your Baby Ninja or WeeBR, even if your riding buddies don’t.
