Dunlop to provide spec tires for MotoAmerica

MotoAmerica has announced Dunlop will provide spec tires for their roadracing  series.

MotoAmerica is the new face of  AMA roadracing, run by the  KRAVE Group. This deal simply continues an existing deal with AMA; Dunlop has provided spec tires for AMA roadracers since 2009, back when  the series was run by the Daytona Motorsports Group.

The Superbike, Superstock 1000 and Supersport classes will run Dunlop’s KR448 and KR449 slicks, and the Superstock 600 class will run GPA-Pro DOT tires. The RC390 series will run Alpha 13 tires.

So far, we only know of one Canadian signed up for the new AMA series – Thornbury’s Ben Young (originally hailing from Scotland) is riding an R6 in the Supersport class, after racing in the British Superbike series last year. This year, he’s riding for the RoadRace Factory team.

  1. Its too bad it has to be a spec tire series, but that seems to be the way now.
Open competition would make for better racing (in my opinion), but at least the competing teams are familiar with Dunlop so it shortens the learning curve.
