MV Agusta continues plans for expansion

MV Agusta is continuing its push for international growth with a new loan for 15 million euros aimed at boosting international sales.

Back in October, when Mercedes bought into MV Agusta, company president and CEO Giovanni Castiglioni said “Mercedes-AMG will help MV Agusta to further expand globally and to accelerate our growth.” Now it seems that plan is quickly moving forward.

The new funds will go towards development of new models, and increasing their market presence in North America, southeast Asia and Brazil. The money comes from government agencies.

While the loan might sound like a bit of a gamble, it could prove to be a pretty smart move. While the Japanese marques haven’t seen much growth since the 2008 financial crisis, the Euro manufacturers – Ducati and BMW, in particular – have mostly done well. There’s money being spent on luxury bikes, and MV Agusta builds desirable machines. If they can grab a bigger piece of that market share, they might be able to finally move beyond their status as a niche product.
