Atlanticade is on the move again, back to Moncton where it got its beginning.
As far as Canadian motorcycle rallies go, Atlanticade is one of the biggest. It started in Moncton in 2007, but moved to St. Andrews, NB, after a couple years, then moved again to Summerside, where it ran for three years. The rally filled western PEI with motorcyclists over the Canada Day weekend, but all those two-wheelers and their monied riders are now going back to Moncton.
Interestingly, the town of Bathurst tried hard to land the 2014 rally. Just a few years ago, Bathurst was one of the first cities in the Maritimes to join the fight against loud pipes, only to reconsider their stance after city business owners claimed the move was driving motorcycle-riding tourists away from town.
The 2015 Atlanticade rally (or festival, as they call it) will run July 1-5, and is expected to bring around 12,000 riders and $1-3 million in business to Moncton.
