Suzuki update: GSX-S, V-Strom availability

Suzuki Canada says the V-Strom 1000 Desert Edition isn’t coming to our market, but the GSX-S 1000 models are.

After Suzuki unveiled the Desert Edition in Europe earlier this week, we wondered if it would come to Canada, but guessed it wouldn’t. Turns out we were right – the only V-Strom 1000 models we’ll get this year are the standard model and the Canadian Special Edition, which includes side cases, hand guards and centre stand.

However, we will be getting the GSX-S 1000 lineup, although it isn’t on Suzuki Canada’s website right now. The GSX-S 750 models (built around a repurposed previous-generation GSX-R 750 motor) are listed on the site, so we’d expect to see them in showrooms in time for the 2015 season.

Buyers will have to wait a little longer of they want a GSX-S1000 or GSX-S 1000F, though (read about them here – they’re a naked bike and sport tourer, respectively, based on a previous-generation GSX-R 1000 motor). According to Suzuki Canada, those bikes will be here late in the summer of 2015 as an early 2016 model. At least that gives you more time to save your money to buy one.

  1. Well, we do get a Canadian edition, maybe we could get a Canadian Tundra or Canadian Shield edition with camo green paint and a bottle of fly dope zip tied to the cross bar….
