US racing updates: Flat Track schedule released

If you've already taken part in a charity ride or two, you can always watch flat track racing in Alberta.

When the AMA handed over control of their roadracing program to MotoAmerica, they also indicated they intend to take their flat track series more seriously. Now, they’ve released their 2014 schedule.

The schedule, shown below, has one very interesting point: They have two races at Daytona during this winter’s Bike Week, but there will be no Daytona 200 road race. There’s no word on whether the Daytona 200 will ever return, which means that for Bike Week attendees who want to watch racing, there’s a choice: Flat track or supercross? This might be what flat track needs to get a fan base boost.

You can see the entire flat track schedule below.

But what about roadracing? Although Wayne Rainey and Co. aren’t running an event at Daytona, they are busy planning the rest of the 2015 season. You can see Rainey talking about MotoAmerica’s plans in the video below. They’re actually going to run the series side-by-side with MotoGP at Indianapolis and Austin, as well as with World Superbike at Laguna Seca, which will give North American riders a lot of exposure to international teams.
