KTM says more electric motorcycles coming

It’s taken a while for KTM’s electric Freeride to make it to market, but the company is committed to the technology, a company exec said at their press conference at EICMA this morning.

It took years for the Freeride battery bikes to make it to market in dual sport, supermoto and dirt bike form, but now that they’re here, the company says they have more similar machines en route, although they didn’t offer more details on what those models would look like, or when we could expect them.

However, Canada will get both the RC390 and 390 Duke next season, as well as the 1290 Super Adventure. It’s been a long waiting period for the 390s; they’ll be priced around the $6,000 mark when they arrive, with the RC390 supposedly within $100 of the Duke. You will be able to see the 390s and the 1290 in person at the MMIC show circuit this winter.

We haven’t heard pricing for the 1290 Adventure yet.

Alas, while the 1050 Adventure is being unveiled today, we will not see that machine in North America for 2015. If US dealers don’t bring it in in the future, it won’t come to Canada either.

  1. GP bikes website lists the 390 Duke as $6099 and RC390 as $6599. I wish there was an adventure-ish model that was not crazy expensive. Something that would fit my 6 foot 4 inch body and would live 80% on the road and 20% down dirt roads / across the occasional field or two.
