Honda could be about to debut street-legal GP replica

Once again, Repsol took the day.

For months now, there’s been a rumour that Honda plans to reveal a street-legal version of the RC213V MotoGP bike. A recent trademark filing with the European Union hints the rumours are true, and we’ll see the bike very soon.

Honda has trademarked the name “RC213V-S” for use for an upcoming, yet-to-be-launched motorcycle. That’s no guarantee, but it’s a pretty strong suggestion that Big Red is finally going to get around to dropping their street-legal GP bike on the market, as they said they’d do all the way back in 2012.

Back then, the suggestion was that numbers would be very limited – just enough to get WSB homologation, with a price tag between $110,000 and $127,000 CAD.

So now, we wait. Although most of the manufacturers unveiled new bikes at the Intermot show, we know there’s more to come this week at EICMA, and it would be unsurprising if Honda’s racebike-with-lights makes its first official appearance.
