Every once in a while you see a video of a motorcycle rider avoiding a crash that leaves you amazed at their luck. This is one of those videos.
The clip apparently comes from a European motorcycle drag racing series; the rider who crashed is Filippos Papafilippou. Reports say he was going over 200 kph when things started going sideways. Fortunately for him, his competitor Steve Woollatt’s wheelie bar saved him from a close encounter with the asphalt, or with the concrete barriers trackside. Kudos to Woolatt for keeping everything together under the extreme circumstances and slowing his own bike down without crashing.
Supposedly, Papafilippou only suffered minor injuries to his ankle, although his bike wasn’t as lucky as he was.
