The 2014 Fundy Adventure Rally is a wrap!
Of the 60 or so entries, most riders managed to find their way to Adairs Wilderness Lodge last Friday to take in the BMW demo rides, Terry Burt’s Labrador presentation and the all important Riders’ Meeting.
Saturday turned out to be somewhat foggy, which made the first leg down the amazing Fundy Trailway coastal road into a very twisty ride in fog. This leg also saw a couple of riders first mishaps (one over the bars, one dropped on the rocks and the other rode into a ditch), but thankfully none of the injuries were bad enough to need medical attention.
Of all the 15 teams entered, only six managed to get past the first checkpoint and back to base within the 12 hour window, as many riders ignored suggestions of not stopping too long, but still managed to have a blast regardless.
This created a tiebreaker situation which was solved by downloading all team GPS files to see how well the teams followed the route. There was one clear winner; Team Bogdan Marinescu and Adam Rush (who came all the way from Toronto, and thereby shaming all the local riders) and kept to the tracks perfectly, throwing in a crash for good measure.
Congratulations guys and to all the riders who made the trek to the wilds of southern New Brunswick to take part.
Next year Canada Moto Rallies is holding the Fundy Adventure Rally on the weekend of 11/12/13 September. Mark it on your calendars!
