This weekend is the grand finale for the Canadian Superbike championship, with the doubleheader at Mosport (sorry, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park), but Jordan Szoke says he might not be there.

According to a press release sent out by Waznie Racing, Szoke injured his right thumb during a CMA-sanctioned observed trials event last weekend. When they sent out the press release out yesterday, they said they didn’t know how serious the injury was, and that it might impact his ability to race this weekend.

“I am extremely disappointed that it will be unlikely to secure our tenth Superbike Championship over the weekend. Particularly because we have the points lead coming into one of my series favorite circuit,” Szoke said in the press release. “I am saddened for all our sponsors and fans that come to see us ride at this event, that we may not be able to. I still encourage everyone to come see us as we will be there with full representation.”

The release goes on to say Szoke will be at CTMP to sign autographs in any case.

News of Szoke’s injury might puzzle some readers, as he’s best known for his dominance in Canadian roadracing, but he’s also been riding trials bikes at an international level for some time now. Oh yeah, and he’s a champion mountain bike racer as well. However, if that starts to interfere with his track job, maybe he’ll be cutting back on those activities in the future.
