Video: Polaris Slingshot breaks cover officially

For a while now, there have been spy photos of Polaris’s Slingshot three-wheeler circulating around the web, but the bike officially broke cover yesterday – or at least, that’s what we hear. Our press release with the spec sheet, etc, seems to have mysteriously disappeared into the ether of the internet. At least, it never showed up here …

But anyway, here’s the skinny: The machine is powered by a four-cylinder 2.4-litre GM Ecotec motor (with five speed gearbox), making 173hp and 166 ft-lb of torque, reports Asphalt and Rubber. There are two models, the base Slingshot and an upscale SL model (priced at $20,000 and $24,000 respectively in the US). ABS is standard on both. The SL has forged wheels that reduce weight and allow for different tires.

See Polaris’s product video below. Apparently they are branding this as a motorcycle, so you’ll supposedly need a bike license to drive it.
