Achtung! According to Motorrad magazine (that’s their photo, above), the folks at Suzuki are awaking from their dormancy and releasing a new naked bike.
Here’s the deal: While Suzuki has made some fantastic naked bikes in the past (See: Bandit 1200, SV650), they haven’t done much in this department lately. In fact, they haven’t done much of anything lately – almost all their lineup is recycled from previous years, updated only with Bold New Graphics.
Enter the GSR1000! Supposedly, this machine is based around their GSX-R 1000, so it’s probably a simple exercise, but still exciting. There’s plenty of competition between the Euros and the Big Four in the naked bike market already, but there’s still lots of love for the GSX-R brand, and there’s never been a naked bike based on that series. A machine like this could be just the thing Suzuki needs to show they’re still in the game.
