The World Superbike circus returns to Donington Park to race this weekend, and that’s good news for Tom Sykes.

A double win at Donington Park was a big part of Syke’s championship title in WSBK in 2013. He’s currently four points down on Jonathan Rea (135 to Rea’s 139) in the standings.

“We have to make my home round count,” Sykes said. ” “Donington is a fantastic circuit and doing the double there last year made it very special because it was my first ever double in World Superbike.”

Of course, it’s not as if Rea is unfamiliar with the circuit either, as the rider from Northern Ireland earned his stripes in British Superbike before heading on to Supersport and Superbike racing on the world stage. He’s had podiums in five of the last six races, and looks to be pretty hot going in to this weekend. He’s only ever managed one podium at Donington in WSBK racing, though, so a simple hot streak might not be enough.
