Listening to some motorcycle industry insiders, you’d think the world had ended in 2008. Ever since the Great Recession started, many manufacturers have seen motorcycle sales tank.

Not BMW, though! The German manufacturer has set yet another sales record in the first quarter of 2014. They sold 28,719 motorcycles in Q1, an increase of 16.1 per cent over last year’s numbers in the same time period.

The month of March was also a record-setting stretch. BMW sold 15,183 machines in March, up 16.2 per cent from 2013’s numbers. That makes it the company’s best-ever month for sales in its history. That is a truly amazing feat in today’s economic climate.

BMW officials said sales were strongest in their German home market, then in the US and French markets.
