Dirt Quake will hit Washington

Ever heard of Dirt Quake? Probably not. That’s because a madcap dirt-track event, where competitors race choppers, bobbers and the like around on the dirt, is not likely to capture the same sort of attention as MotoGP.

However, if you live within driving distance of Castle Rock, Washington, and you like fun and custom motorcycles, this is an event you might want to take in. Hey, how can you not love a race with classes like “Inappropriate Street Motorcycles”? There are also classes for street trackers/scramblers, choppers, and a ladies’ class.

This event has been running in the UK for a couple years, presented by Sideburn Magazine, and this is the first time the event has come to North America . Highlights of the UK event have included such attractions as a motorized pie (watch the video here).  Custom motorcycle shop (and purveyors of fine coffee) See See Motorcycles are in on this as well.

Along with the goofy race classes, there are also supposed to be some legitimate flat track races running during the May 31-June event. Admission is $10, and it’s $10 to camp. There will be live music as well. You can find more details, including instructions on how to enter, here.

Costumed riders on every style of motorcycle imaginable racing around a flat track at speed. Classes include Chopper, Inappropriate Road Bike, Street Tracker and Ladies. Such a crazy idea couldn’t be contained to the Old World alone, and a couple weeks ago, they ran Dirt Quake USA in the state of Washington. We told you it was happening, way back in April. […]
