The new Dragster was supposed to be a cruiser, but in the flesh, it seems to be another stripped-down naked bike. It’s even lighter than their three-cylinder Rivale (based around the same 800 cc three-cylinder motor, with six-speed transmission). It weighs 167 kg, compared to the 170-kg Rivale.

It seems to make the same horsepower (125 hp at 11,600 rpm). It rolls on a 120/70 – ZR 17 tire in front, and a 200/50 – ZR 17 tire in rear. That rear sneaker is a bit beefier than the  Rivale’s 180/55-ZR17 rear tire.

Since electronics are just as important as horsepower these days, the Dragster will also have a comprehensive electronics package, including electronic traction control, electronically-assisted shifting, and ride-by-wire throttle. Like all of MV Agusta’s 800 triples, the Dragster will have ABS.

The Dragster has dual 320 mm disc brakes up front, with Brembo radial four-piston calipers. In the rear, there’s a 220 mm disc with two-piston caliper.

Front suspenders are from Marzocchi (43 mm USD forks) and rear suspension is a Sachs monoshock, with rebound and compression damping and spring preload adjustment.

Maximum speed is reckoned to be 245 kph. Costa is testing the bike this week; once we get our hands on the review, we’ll let you know if that speed rating is correct …
