When you think of action cameras, you think of GoPro, but there are other companies manufacturing the miniature video cams as well, and one of them – WASPcam – has just announced a couple new models.

The cameras are named the GIDEON and the JAKD. The GIDEON records video at 1080p60, 1080p30, 960p60 and 720p120. It’ll also shoot 16MP still shots. Conveniently, you can control the camera from a wrist-mounted display that looks like something straight out of Get Smart, and also doubles as a wristwatch.

It also has built-in wifi to make it easier to control or download video, and can connect wirelessly to your iPhone or Android device. There’s a waterproof housing included with the camera, and several mounts.

The JAKD camera is a lower-spec model that seems to be aimed at the youth market; it doesn’t come with a wristwatch controller or anything like that, and as far as we can tell, offers no wifi function. However, it does have an infrared capability that’s supposed to improve its lowlight use. It records at 1080p25fps or 720p30fps. A waterproof housing and a few mounts, including a handlebar mount, are included.

You can see the WASPcam catalogue here for more details; there are no prices listed.
