Carlos Checa sidelined by injury

Carlos Checa will be unable to compete in the final three WSB rounds.

Carlos Checa will be out for the rest of the 2013 World Superbike season, after breaking his pelvis.

Checa suffered the injury after a crash in practice last Friday, before the double-header in Istanbul. At first, doctors thought he had only fractured his wrist and bruised his ribs. However, after he continued to have difficulty walking, the doctors then determined he also had broken his pelvis.

The injury means Checa will need surgery, and he’ll probably need 10 weeks to recover from the fracture. He’s supposed to go under the knife today.

Obviously, with a recovery period that long, Checa won’t be back aboard his Ducati this season. The question now is, who will fill his shoes in the last three race weekends?

  1. Hey Carlos, I know a guy named Brett McCormick that could probably fill in for you. You might remember him from last spring… when you ran him off the track and sidelined his brilliant career.
