We’ve added another motorcycle touring route to our DYR section. Since we already had New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, we’ve also added a DYR for PEI.
Now, you should note that PEI isn’t going to be everybody’s cup of tea. There’s not much in the way of twisties through the province. However, there are plenty of roads that are ideal for cruisers, along rolling hills and gently curving coastal drives. As well, speed enforcement is low, and there are no deer/moose/bear to hit.
Remember, too, the speed limit is artificially low (90 kph). Most of the Island ignores that, but if you’re looking for a place to tour on a small-displacement motorcycle, PEI is ideal.
The PEI DYR is set up so riders who want just a quick overview of the province can do so in a day, arriving by the ferry and leaving by the Confederation Bridge. However, should you want to spend a bit more time exploring the Garden of the Gulf, we’ve added in some optional routes, as well as some touristy type stops for ice cream and the like.
DYR, for PEI? Isn’t there like one road there? What happens if you get lost? You can see the bridge from anywhere on the island. Run out of gas? Just push it to the gas station, it can’t be far.
