For a while, it’s been rumoured Jonathan Rea wants out of WSBK and into MotoGP, and now he’s saying that’s true.

It can’t come as a surprise; Rea actually filled in for an injured Casey Stoner last summer on a couple occasions, and put up very respectable performances. Naturally, many onlookers think he’ll make the jump with Honda (maybe on their new production racer), but that’s not a given. Rea says he’s talking to a few different organizations about his intentions.

Still, it would make sense for Honda to hang on to him, if they can, as he’s done well for them in WSBK. But, his superbike contract runs out this year, so he’s free to do what he wants. He’s admitted himself that jobs are scarce, but says Honda wants him on board, so it’ll be interesting to see what he works out.
