Jorge Lorenzo has seen his 2013 season take a huge setback.

While practicing on wet pavement for this weekend’s MotoGP race at Assen, Lorenzo high-sided at the track’s fastest corner (he came off the bike at a speed close to 350 kph, some reports say), and broke his left clavicle.

The injury will require surgery, and Lorenzo will obviously miss this weekend’s race, and likely some more.

This is going to make it much harder for last year’s champ to catch up to current points leader Dani Pedrosa, unless he rides like a madman after his return. As well, some onlookers are wondering if this is Yamaha satellite rider Cal Crutchlow’s big chance to try out a factory bike. All in all, the season just  might have gotten a lot more interesting.

Or not. He might just pass fitness, race and finish 5th.

My respect for JL99 could not possibly be higher. Wow. Truly, JL99 is the Man of Steel.
