Yamaha’s Tech 3 MotoGP team could be in trouble this weekend, as their garage has been hit by a fire.
Yesterday morning, a small fire broke out in Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith’s pit garage at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas. For now, it’s being blamed on the electric starter used to get their bikes going, but it’s under investigation by the team.
The garage’s fire suppression system supposedly caught the blaze before it did any serious damage, although some computer equipment for Tech 3 was hit by the sprinkler, as well as some of the factory team’s computer equipment.
Supposedly, Crutchlow thought he could race as schedule this weekend. However, this fire could make it tough – Crutchlow didn’t make the COTA test earlier this year, and this incident may further complicate his practice sessions this weekend.
