If you’ve always wanted a Triumph Hurricane, but can’t afford one, there may be a new solution, thanks to Phil Little Racing’s Storm kit.
The custom company is building a conversion kit that lets you take a garden-variety Yamaha XS650 and replicate the X-75 Hurricane, which was a factory custom built in the early ’70s, in conjunction with Craig Vetter.
Of course, even XS650s are going up in price these days, as they’ve become a popular bike to customize, and most folks would likely rather tweak their bike to look like a cafe racer or something else, instead of this throwback to the disco decade. But, the original Hurricane wasn’t exactly a common bike either – Triumph only briefly sold it in the U.S., as it failed noise emission testing.
If you really want to build this kit, it’ll set you back $959 U.S.; it includes the bodywork, tank mounts, petcocks, gas cap, graphics, vintage-style Progressive shocks, a Tarozzi fork brace, re-styled side-mounted brake/taillight and plate holder and a two-into-two chrome exhaust.
