It seems like Canada may get KTM’s 390 Duke in 2014, if reports from India are true.
KTM CEO Stefan Pierer told the Business Standard the made-in-India naked bike will be sold in the U.S. as a 2014 model; we’re guessing we’ll see it here as well, since half the battle of bringing a bike to Canada is passing the U.S. government regulations.
The 390 Duke is a co-operative effort between KTM and their Indian partner, Bajaj. Bajaj is making a strong effort to break into the North American market – they have a deal with Erik Buell Racing, and sponsor his AMA racing team.
It’s quite possible we’ll see Bajaj enter the market here under their own brand name soon, if reception to the Duke 390 is decent. With their ties to racing already established, maybe the Indian manufacturer will be successful where the Chinese brands have mostly failed, so far.
Also, if you get the seat height 35 inch or less, 390 enduro would own the mid size dual sport market for sure.
please make the 390 enduro too and keep it under 300 lbs if you can
Keep on waiting … even if they make it, there’s no guarantee it will ever make it here.
Can’t wait to see one up close . Hope it is priced right around $5500.00 – $6000.00 but we all know Canadian pricing on motorcycles so I fully expect $8999.00 or more.
I agree with Bruce…If they price it right I will see lots of them on the road, if not just another cool bike that will disappear
You’re confusing your Indian manufacturers. Hero MotoCorp is working with Erik Buell, not Bajaj.
