Bimota makes high-powered exotic bikes based around other manufacturers’ motors. Here’s what they had at EICMA.
According to Asphalt and Rubber, they’ve taken Ducati’s 1198 cc Testastretta motor and stuffed it into a sportbike they call the DB11, with steel trellis/aluminum plate frame. It weighs 385 lbs dry.
It has Marzocchi forks and Extreme Tech rear shock (forks are fully adjustable, shock is four-way adjustable). The motorcycle has an Athena exhaust, Brembo brakes, and wheels from OZ Wheels. In base form, it makes 160 hp and puts out 97 lb-ft of torque.
If that’s not enough power for you, though, they’ve also put together a supercharged version of the bike. The DB11 VLX makes 188hp and 105 lb-ft of torque, thanks to its modified Sprintex dual-screw supercharger. It weighs 394 lbs dry. Braking comes from Brembo monobloc calipers and the bike has Ohlins forks in front and monoshock in rear.
The company also announced a deal with BMW during the show; they’re going to be using the S1000 RR’s motor in some future project. That concept bike will be unveiled at EICMA; it’ll be known as the BB2.
