On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
The latest James Bond, Skyfall, opens today, but if you don’t have the money to spring for a couple of theatre tickets, you can always watch the YouTube video below, starring John McGuinness in a secret agent role. And how bad could it be? You probably already know the answer to that one.
Double standard
Nicholas ‘Fatty’ Soames is a principled politician. This upstanding member of the British parliament (and grandson of Winston Churchill) is a man who stands against speeding; during his campaign, and on his website, he calls for an end to dangerous high-speed driving.
He’s a man who saw his wish come true, when he was nabbed for a little high-speed driving himself. The police recently pulled Soames over for driving 51 mph in his Audi in a 30 zone, netting him a £666 fine along with £85 court costs and £15 victim surcharge. Even better, he was also slapped with a two-week driving ban – which, apparently, isn’t Soames’s first ban.
Sadly, the poetic justice probably ends there, as Soames surely has enough money to cab it into the office (so to speak), instead of having to slum it on the bus with the rest of the public.
