According to Asian site TMCblog.com, Kawasaki is tinkering with the idea of a naked version of its 250/300 sport bike.
It’s an interesting idea; while Honda’s CBR250 and Kawasaki’s 250 and 300 Ninjas are all rage these days, there aren’t many naked quarter-litres out there, beside the not-for-North-America Suzuki GW250. Riders in search of a sporty 250 without bodywork have had to make do with supermotos, and even those seem to be dropping out of style.
The photo that TMCBlog published seem to show a naked version of Kawasaki’s new 250. Of course, we’re only getting the 300 cc version of that bike here in North America, so we’d assume that any naked bike we see would have the same motor.
Since the photo comes from a user, not an official release, it’s possible it’s a fraud. But more and more of these bikes are getting leaked on Asian sites like these, so don’t be surprised if it’s the real deal.
Hyosung has sold a naked 250 in North Anerica for something like a decade
Yeah, they have. But I don’t know anybody who’s bought one. Seems to me they look a lot like a 250 motor in a revised GS500 frame, although I could be wrong on that. They are a nice lookin’ bike in my opinion, though. They pop up occasionally on Kijiji pretty cheap.
